‚Tirana Multimodal Station‘. Wettbewerb 2012. Recognition
The Site is located in an undefined urban structure, where the nearby surroundings have various scales and functions. The north side appartment buildings obtain small scales, in contrast to the big scale southern industrial unities. The two big streets appear to divide the site in functions.
Intention of the new composition is to reflect the small scale unities of the surroundings which through their addition create a big scale structure, integrating with its environment.
The whole Level 0 is sinked and the connection from outside is based on ramps. This leaves the upper volumes appear to float and provides an acoustical barrier to the local housing.
The selection of vaults and arcs as structural elements creates a modern interpretation of local traditional architectural quality.
